Metabolomics Mini -symposium
0 kr
This mini-symposium will present advances in state-of-the-art analytical development, sample preparation, data analysis and key applications for both global and targeted metabolomics applications.
What is Metabolomics?
Metabolomics research investigates the complex mixture of metabolites in any sample type and is the newest omics-research field with several applications in biomedical sciences. The main potency of metabolomics is the close relation of metabolites to the phenotypes of living organisms and provide information on biochemical processes on a molecular level. This parallel analysis of metabolites holds a huge opportunity to uncover fundamental insights linked to disease development. High quality sample handling, analysis techniques and data analysis are required to identify biomedical relevant metabolic alterations.
The program
The Mini-symposium program starts March 5 at 08.15 hrs with registration and will then cover four session during the day. The program ends with a symposium dinner at 18.00 hrs
Session 1: Data analysis
Key note speaker: Steffen Neumann, Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Halle, Germany
Session 2: Applications in metabolomics
Key note speaker: Mogens Johannsen, Aarhus University, Denmark
Metabolomics in Diabetes
Peter Spégel, Lund University, Sweden
Combining metabolomics and chemical biology strategies - New advanced tools for the discovery of microbiota-derived metabolites in human samples
Daniel Globisch, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Uppsala University
Session 3: Separation/mass spectrometry
High throughput metabolic phenotyping for the 21st century
Ian Wilson, Imperial College London, United Kingdom
Clinical Lipidomics Approaches to study Health and Disease
Matej Oresic, Örebro University
Session 4: Validation of metabolomics data
The potential of metabolomics in clinical use
Kim Kultima, Department of Medical Sciences, Uppsala University
